which television should i buy?

my budget is 500-800$
i want to get a 32 or 37 inch lcd or plasma 42. i dont mind if it is refurbished and i want at least a 1200:1 contrast ratio. i was thinking about the olevia or a less expensive sharp. i have found a refurbished samsung 32″ for 700$ which is very good but does not have an HDTV tuner included. please can i have some advice.
i checked into sonys but they are too expensive for my budget

Well bro just to help you out I’m not trying to say those are bad t.v.’s but if i was you i would get an LCD t.v. . They are cheaper than plasma and have just about as great of picture. The reason i tell you this is because in about 7 years that plasma t.v. is going to burn out. Its just a liquidity gas inside the t.v. making that picture and it eventually just burns out. Also in about 3 years you will have a problem with it leaving pictures from a past commercial still up on the t.v. somewhat even though a new one has come on, you will see the shadow of the last one. So just to help you out LCD’s are cheaper, just as good, they are still flat and you can hang them up on the wall, and you wont have to worry about it burning out on you.
A word to the Wise. I recently had to have my wide screen repaired. I ask the very nice repair man if I should put money into a repair or get a plasma. He said “oh please get the plasma. I will see you about 3 times a year. They have worked the kinks out of the technology yet”
OK Well you want a TV, but you have a budget.
I Suggest to save up more and to spend your money on a reliable tv. I guarentee that most of these cheap/renewed tvs will only last a year.

LCD is the new technology and I advise everyone to get it insted of the old Plasma, I have bought a SONY 46″ LCD tv and I love it. Make sure it is HD ready and has a HDMI port.

Don’t get plasma.
For the money ($799 now, I think) it’s hard to beat the Vizio 37″ LCD. Sam’s club and Costco have them. I also have a top of the line Sony LCD that cost 3X what the Vizio cost and for HD the Vizio looks as good as the Sony. The Sony is better for SD but for $799 you can’t beat the Vizio.
