getting new tv?

im buying a new tv, its lcd, those flat panels. i m looking at one its 37 inch called vizio
is plasma or hdtv better?
wat should i look for?

We just got a new 47-inch LG LCD HDTV. We have it hooked up to our digital cable box/DVR. The picture looked fine, but then we went out and bought a Belkin HDMI cable since we didn’t have an extra one since the only other one we have is being used by our 37-inch LCD in our bedroom. As soon as I plugged in the new HDMI cable from the back of the TV to the cable box, the picture looked pretty fuzzy. So, I removed the HDMI cable and the picture is still fuzzy. The picture was totally fine before we plugged in the HDMI cable, but now it is all fuzzy and won’t go back to normal, even after removing the HDMI cable. The funny thing is that it is only the picture on the channels that is fuzzy, but if I go into the DVR menu or TV guide listings on the cable box, that is perfectly clear. Any suggestions???

Plasma TV, is it worth it?

Okay, I have done loads of research on tvs.Geeze, I have bought a car with better ease..lol. Anyway, I Know LCDS usually have longer durability, but are priced a tad higher, atleast for 37 inch or higher. However, while in the store I noticed Plasmas are getting cheap. There is this tv, Panasonic Viera 42 inch , that is going for $700. It claims to have anti-burn tech in it, and the picture looks okay, not super Great. However, I am still a little apprehensive cause its Plasma. Even though Panasonic is suppose to be good, and it has anti burnin tech, but what do you guys think? Also, I have an old buddy willing to sell me his used Sharp 46 inch LCD for $800.0, its a year old. However, my buddy can be a lil shady to people, and IDK which one to get?
—-My Viewing Notes, This TV is going in my basement, Yes, I am a college student! I mainly watch Espn, Espnnews, Cnn, and MTV. I play xbox 360 as well. Do you think that a plasma is good for this, with the anti-burn in it? Or you think Plasmas are bad for Espnnews and those type of networks. The model number is Panasonic Viera TH-42PX80U 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV. If any of you have had this or problems let me know, I am really considering buying this, or my friends LCD, not sure?

LCD or PLASMA 37 to 42 inches Television?

Will be buying new HDTV. Doing Research. Looking for Quality in combination with good price. Am not familiar with the new Technology and it’s different definitions, so if you can help me, I’d appreciate it. What about the non-brand names, they are less, but do they measure up?? Plasma or LCD.??? What are the pitfalls of this new technology? Thanks

Looking To Buy First HDTV?

im looking for something 37-40 inch, would like a brand with reliability and if god forbid something happens handles the problems easily..i will be watching some standard def content on it not to much..i would like to spend no more then like 1300..what models would you recommend?

My entertainment center is 39 inches across and I am trying to fit the largest possible TV into this area. Currently, I can only go up to a 37″ LCD but am hoping there are some 40″ LCD’s out there less than 39 inches across.
Just to clarify, I am talking about the length from left to right. I do understand that TV’s are measured diagonally to quote their size..

Magnavox flat screen tv sound?

http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Magnavox-37-inch-Flat-Panel-LCD-HDTV-Refurb/3020788/product.html

I have this model of the tv, sometimes the sound does not work on it and I have to unplug it from the back and plug it in again to make it work. Also, the speakers on the left hand side of it does not work at all, does anyone know what is going on with it and if it can be fixed|?

Full screen and smplayer and Ares video player.?

I have a pc running Winxp which I connect to my 37-inch wide-screen HDTV via HDMI. I use both monitors in combination in dual mode, which gives me the ability to display different things on each one and to drag things from one monitor to the other.

It works fine and the picture is great. So far I have been using Dvix Player or Windows Media player to watch my movies and it works fine on both monitors. Lately Lately I’ve been using SM Player because I have a lot of DVD files and it plays all of them,

My problem is that when I drag SM player onto my HDTV it displays a black screen, the audio is perfect but the screen is completely dark, no matter what size I choose for the player or what resolution I use for my HDTV. I noticed that if I use the player that comes with Ares the same thing happens, they both work great in all modes on my pc monitor but not on the HDTV, but the other player work on both.

I checked all the settings and at this point I don’t really know what to think. I don’t pretend to be an expert on HDTV’s and I really doubt it has anything to do with HDMI.
